Tool Debut New Music for First Time in Over a Decade

For the first time in over a decade, Tool have debuted two new songs.

At the Welcome to Rockville festival last night (May 5th) the band played the songs "Descending" and "Invincible."

For hardcore Tool fans, "Descending" might sound familiar because the band has played parts of the song instrumentally during live performances since around 2012. But last night was the first time the song has had lyrics.

After opening with "AEnima," "The Pot" and "Parabola," Tool played the newly completed version of "Descending" before performing "Schism." Then, the second new track "Invincible" (although some seem to think it may be titled "Warrior") was played.

Could these new songs mean that the band is finally approaching the release of new music? Maynard James Keenan said back in February that a target date for the new album would targeting a "Mid May and Mid July" release date. Well, here we are.
