Coconut Oil is Bad for You. Because Science.

This is definitely a shock to most of us, as coconut oil has been touted as super healthy, and a great substitute to olive and canola oils. But, it IS oil. And oil is literally just liquid fat. So we really shouldn't be that surprised to learn it's actually not good for you.

Which seems dramatic but, again, you're basically just eating plant lard.

There's no study showing significant health benefits to coconut-oil consumption. And, according to Michels, coconut oil is more dangerous than lard because it almost exclusively contains saturated fatty acids, ones that can clog the coronary arteries. You can identify fats that contain large quantities of saturated fatty acids by checking to see whether they remain solid at room temperature, as is the case with butter or lard.

Now, this is only one person. Like everything, you should always check multiple sources to get different opinions, and make a well-informed judgment.

But maybe just slow down a bit on the oil.
