It all started on December 6th, 2017, when this Tweet came from 15 year old Cleveland resident Mary Klym, using the account @WeezerAfrica.
And from there, it took off. The movement snowballed and finally, Weezer did it. They covered "Africa" and it became one of their biggest songs ever. It even lead to an entire covers record, The Teal Album. "Africa" is and forever will be a part of the Weezer legacy. They wanted to show their gratitude to Mary with a gift. She was given a gold record!
