South Korean Capital Bans Fast Workout Music In Gyms As Covid Measure

In strange news, South Korea’s capital has adopted the strange new measure of playing slower music in gyms to combat COVID-19.

The capital city of Seoul has seen an increase in COVID cases since June, with over 1,000 new cases reported on Sunday (July 11). In response, the Health Ministry is calling for music over 120 BPM not to be played in gyms.

Faster music is said to create,"harsh breathing from intense activities [and] can spatter a lot of saliva,"according to the Health Ministry.

Treadmills are also limited to no more than 3.72 mph. Critics say most people don’t know the BPM or their music by heart, songs like Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” would be okay however Avril Lavigne’s song, “Sk8er Boi” would be banned. You also couldn’t monitor people who listen to music through headphones.

Do you think requiring slower music to be played in gyms would help prevent COVID-19?
