A New Jersey congressman has been caught with his pants down. Literally.
Representative Donald Payne was taking part in a virtual House of Representatives hearing on Thursday when he stood up, revealing to the other participants that he hadn't bothered putting on pants for the session. Among the lawmakers who reacted to the sight of Payne in his boxers was Representative Kat Cammack, who covered her face to hide her expression. Another, Beth Van Duyne, tweeted, "If taxpayers are paying you $174,000 per year, getting out of bed and putting some clothes on for work seems like it should be a minimum requirement."
In response to the incident, Payne has issued a statement in which he fails to even mention it. "As a public servant, my focus has always been the public good and my work to better the lives of my constituents and all Americans, regardless of the circumstances," it reads.
