Legends Diner in Denton, TX (part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area) has a sign up on the door directed at people who don't want to wear a mask after the mandate was recently lifted by the governor. The sign informs customers that there will be a $50 surcharge if they have "to explain why masks are mandatory" and a $75 surcharge if they "have to hear why you disagree."
The owner said the sign ismostlya joke, but he does expect his customers to wear masks and he will charge people if needed. The restaurant is the sole source of income for his family and he said he can't afford to get Covid. "Besides, he said, a majority of the customers at the 1950s-style diner are over 60 years old."
