Joe Biden will be sworn in on Wednesday as the next President of the United States alongside Kamala Harris who will be become the first-ever woman and person of color to hold the office of Vice President.
Between the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and unprecedented security, this year's event will look different.
Both the National Mall and Washington Monument, where thousands of people usually pack into on inauguration day, are closed to the public.
The traditional parade and inaugural balls have also been changed to virtual events.
Biden and Harris however will still take their oaths of office outside the Capitol building.
Former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton are expected to attend.
