Tom Petty's music was used for political purposes this weekend, but this time his family has no issue with it.
At the Biden-Harris victory speech on Saturday, Petty's "I Won't Back Down" was one of many songs played.
Taking to social media and sharing a clip from "I Won't Back Down," Petty's family wrote, “We were all so touched to see Tom included on such an important night in America. Congratulations @joebiden and @kamalaharris.” (see Tweet below)
Petty's family had previously sent a cease and desist to the Trump campaign for playing the song at a rally without permission.
Another Tom Petty song, "The Waiting", became the unofficial theme song of Election Week as Americans had to wait almost 6 days to find out who the winner was.
