Several members of the Washington D.C. National Guard who were assigned to monitor protests at the nation's capital have tested positive for COVID-19.
The National Guard, which revealed the diagnoses on Tuesday, would not disclose how many have tested positive, saying it's a matter of "operational security."
"National Guard personnel are social distancing and use of PPE measures remained in place where practical throughout the entire National Guard support to assist local and federal law enforcement responding to the civil unrest," a statement from the organization reads. "All Guardsmen who are suspected to be at high risk of infection or have tested positive for COVID-19 during demobilization will not be released until risk of infection or illness has passed."
Does this mean we're going to see more outbreaks stemming from the protests? Is it still too early to get involved with large groups of people?
