A Michigan man is facing a murder charge after police say he killed his wife by spiking her cereal with heroin.
Davison resident Jason Harris, 44, was taken into custody on Tuesday -- five years after his wife died of what was ruled "an accidental overdose." However, people who knew 36-year-old Christina Harris insisted "she would never use drugs, let alone heroin," says Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton. "By all accounts, Christina Harris was an incredibly loving mother."
But it was Jason Harris' family members who ultimately changed the focus of the investigation. At some point after Christina Harris' death, his siblings went to police and told them their brother had been having an affair. Even more damning, they said they'd overheard him discussing "getting rid of Christina," according to Leyton. Following a lengthy investigation, "we believe that he put heroin into her cereal and milk the night that she died," Leyton says.
