After receiving a call about a burglary in progress, Oregon sheriff's deputies mobilized around a frightened woman's home, charged in with guns drawn and finally identified the intruder: a Roomba vacuum cleaner, which had become trapped in a bathroom.
The incident occurred Monday after the homeowner heard "strange noises" coming from the bathroom, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. When she went to investigate, she found that the door was locked -- but saw shadows moving under the door. After the terrified woman called 911, sheriff's deputies surrounded the home with patrol cars and K-9 units before hearing a rustling noise coming from the bathroom, deputies say.
"We made several announcements and the rustling became more frequent," according to a deputy's report. "We breached the bathroom door and encountered a very thorough vacuuming job being done by a Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner."
