People come up with all sorts of activities to keep themselves occupied while stuck in rush hour traffic. Some sing along to the radio. Others apply makeup or shave. And at least one person passes the time by playing with a gun.
That's what an unidentified Los Angeles man was doing Monday morning when he accidentally shot himself while riding in a car on the 60 Freeway. Police say rather than call for help, the driver drove from Los Angeles County to north Orange County in search of a hospital, Brea Police Sergeant Chris Haddad says. After their quest proved to be unsuccessful, the pair finally gave up and called 911. The victim, in his 20s, was treated for a non-life threatening injury to his ankle, Haddad says.
"In the future, if someone does shoot themselves in the leg, it’d probably be better to pull over and call 911," Haddad advises.
