The baseball world was stunned on Monday when a report surfaced that said the Nationals were listening to offers for Bryce Harper. It turns out the team won't be dealing the soon-to-be-free agent.
Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports that Nationals GM Mike Rizzo made it clear that Harper won't be dealt before the 4 PM ET trade deadline on Tuesday.
Rizzo told The Washington Post in a text message that Harper "is not going anywhere." He also told ESPN's Buster Olney that Harper will not be dealt.
Was the asking price too high or did the Nats have a change of heart? If you're going to lose him in the offseason, why hang on to Harper on a team that is seemingly going nowhere?
