Police responded to reports of gunfire at a high school in Santa Fe, Texas on Friday. CNN is reporting that there are multiple fatalities with an exact number unknown. There are also multiple injuries.
The school district said it was on lockdown because of an incident involving an active shooter. That shooter is in custody but little is known at this time about the shooter.
Details are still coming in and a motive is still unknown at this time. Santa Fe is about 30 miles southeast of Houston.
The Santa Fe School District said in a statement that it initiated a lockdown after an active shooter incident at the high school. It said it would send out more information as soon as it was available.
