While authorities try to make sense of the senseless tragedy that took place in Toronto this week one thing certainly stands out in chaos. The ability for one officer to not shoot and kill the alleged suspect who was driving the van.
The Toronto police officer who apprehended the suspect has been identified as Const. Ken Lam and many are commending him for his handling of the arrest.
While the officer approached the vehicle, the suspect had emerged and begun walking towards the officer asking for him to shoot and saying he had a gun. However, the officer did not shoot and eventually got the suspect to surrender without firing a shot.
Toronto police Chief Mark Saunders attributed Lam's actions to "high-caliber training" that officers receive.
Would you have fired at the suspect? Do you believe that law enforcement in this country would have acted the same?
