In an interesting twist, the creators of the hit Netflix series, "Stranger Things," are being sued for allegedly stealing the idea for the series.
Charlie Kessler is suing the brothers for breach of implied contract, because Kessler claims he pitched the idea of a sci-fi story set near an abandoned military base during a Tribece Film Festival party in 2014. Kessler's attorney says that when he pitched the show to the Duffers that created an implied-in-fact contract that is normal in the industry.
Kessler's attorney Michael Kernan says, "After the massive success of 'Stranger Things' defendants have made huge sums of money by producing the series based on Plaintiff's concepts."
Kessler wants to receive an injunction that that would order the Duffers to stop using his concepts and to destroy all materials based on those concepts, pus restitution, lost profits and punitive damages.
