A French baker just got a fine that he really didn't want or "knead" of $3,700 for working too hard.
That's right, Cédric Vaivre was charged by local labor and employment authorities for keeping his bakery open seven days a week, and according to labor laws, businesses must have one weekly day of rest.
The mayor of the town has defended Vaivre saying, "In a tourist area it seems essential that we can have businesses open every day during the summer. There is nothing worse than closed shops when there are tourists."
A petition in support of Vaivre has received over 400 signatures. He hopes the fine will be lowered or canceled.
