Welcome to the 21st century, Florida - the state is finally about to pass a law that prohibits children under the age of 17 to get married.
Governor Rick Scott is expected to sign the bill into law. It forbids anyone under the age of 17 to marry and declares that a 17-year-old can only marry someone two years older.
The bill passed in part due to the efforts of 47-year-old Sherry Johnson. In 1971, Johnson was raped and impregnated by a church deacon. Johnson was later pressured by the church and her family to marry the man. Johnson says this law would have "changed her life".
