People on the east coast received a false tsunami alert from AccuWeather on Tuesday morning.
It read, "Tsunami Warning in effect until 9:28 AM EST. Source: National Weather Service."
The alert was pushed to people up and down the eastern seaboard from Massachusetts to Florida. It was also received by some in the South including people in Houston and New Orleans.
It was meant as a test, not a real alert. The National Weather Service is investigating how this error happened with AccuWeather.
