A white former University of Hartford student is stands accused of smearing her own bodily fluids on the belongings of her black roommates belongings.
18 year-old Brianna Brochu was charged with criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace after allegedly rubbing bodily fluids on her roommate's backpack and tainting her toothbrush and food.
The former University of Hartford student later bragged about the incidents on social media and referred to her roommate as "Jamaican barbie," which prompted many to label the harassment as a hate crime.
While members of the NAACP were hoping the student would be charged with a hate crime, Hartford State's Attorney Gail Hardy told the AP there isn't enough evidence to go that route.
Is the Hartford State's Attorney right? Is this not worthy of a hate crime?
