Texting and Driving Could Drive Up Your Auto Insurance

Pretty soon, your insurance rate could be based on if you text while you drive.

A division of Allstate is testing a device that tracks phone movement while driving. The technology can also tell if phones are unlocked or if an app is open.

Allstate may be able to use this technology in the future to determine insurance rates. Once one company masters it, others will likely follow.

Their research shows distracted drivers cost insurance companies 160 percent more than non-distracted drivers.

Please don't text and drive.  It can wait.
