Author Olivia Cole overheard the exchange between two women in the gym and shared their advice on Twitter .
She saw a man approach them with "flirtatious eyebrows at the ready".
One of the girls then said: "Uh, you might not want to come over here, dude. I just farted. It's bad."
The guy, who apparently looked rather shocked, then walked away.
Her message has now been liked more than 130,000 times.
