Kraigen Grooms was arrested in 2014 after police alleged he raped a 1-year-old and filmed the abuse. Police used social media to identify him and claimed he had plans to victimize another child. Now, 3 years later Grooms, 19, will not serve jail time for his crime.
According to KTVO, Grooms pleaded guilty to to one county of Engaging in a Lascivious Act with a Child in July. He was sentenced on Monday to a 10-year suspended prison sentence. He will also have to register as a sex offender and must submit to GPS monitoring.
He was originally charged with Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, which carries a potential 25-year prison sentence.
Following the light sentence, the judge has come under fire for his decision to give leniency to Grooms. An online petition has been started to fire the judge.
