The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Storm Watch for the DMV region ahead of an expected weather event on Wednesday, December 16th.
Portions of northern and western Maryland, northwest Virginia and eastern West Virginia could see 12 to 18 inches of snow accumulations from approximately 7 AM Wednesday to 4 AM Thursday.
The predicted snowfall accumulations decreases moving eastward. The Washington, D.C. metropolitan area is forecasted to receive 3-4" of snow while Baltimore could see 8-12".
Areas roughly along the I-95 corridor could potentially see some ice accumulations as well as temperatures hover around the freezing point.
The NWS is warning that travel may become difficult during the event, in some areas "difficult to impossible."
