Ria Freydberg is the Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Region of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the largest revenue generating region in the nation for the organization. Serving the local Washington DC Metropolitan Area, including Northern Virginia, and Maryland, Freydberg’s chief responsibilities include increasing revenue and brand awareness for the chapter, serving local blood cancer patients in the region, and advancing the mission of LLS: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
During her 12-year career with LLS, Freydberg has held several different positions including oversight of the Light The Night, Man & Woman of the Year, and Special Events departments at the National Capital Area Chapter of LLS as well as serving as Executive Director for Virginia. Throughout her tenure, she has partnered on the growth of the Visionaries of the Year Campaign, one of the top –ranked campaigns in the nation each year, and was responsible for the first ever Student Visionaries of the Year, now one of the fastest growing fundraising campaigns for the organization. In her short time in serving in the Virginia Chapter of LLS, before returning back to the Washington, DC region, she demonstrated 20% year over year growth in just one year.
Motivated by personal loss of her mother to a blood cancer, Freydberg has dedicated her career to accelerating cancer cures and supporting patients. She particularly enjoys partnering with the Washington DC business community to help drive the LLS mission forward.
Freydberg attended The George Washington University. Born in Naples, Florida, she grew up in Iowa City, Iowa before calling Washington, DC home. She resides with her husband, John Marcario, and their two fur-children, Murray and Burrito.
