Ki Ho Kang, CEO, KIHOMAC

Mr. Ki Ho Kang is the Chief Executive Officer of KIHOMAC. Leveraging knowledge from his Air Force career in aerospace system development and sustainment, he focused the company’s competency on extending US investments in major aerospace weapon systems. KIHOMAC develops solutions for aging weapon systems by reverse engineering and manufacturing systems and assemblies to keep weapon systems mission ready. The company has grown steadily at an annualized growth rate of 44% from inception in 2003 to $55M in revenue in 2020. The company operates 200K ft2 of facilities at all three Air Force Sustainment Centers and the Naval Air Systems Command at Pax River, MD, including the state-of-the-art 142K ft2 aerospace Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Layton, Utah.

Ki Ho was born in Seoul, Korea. His family immigrated to the United States in 1978 and settled in Baltimore, Maryland.He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and was commissioned through AFROTC Det 550 in 1989. He earned a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1994. 

As an Air Force officer, he participated in a variety of complex aerospace weapon system acquisition and sustainment programs. He served as a systems engineer, flight test engineer, and program manager for various aircraft & sensor system technology programs, including the monitoring system for the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. He oversaw the development and test of advanced weapon programs to defeat hard and deeply buried targets while assigned at DTRA.After 11 years of active-duty service, he joined the Air Force Reserve in 2000 and served as a Reserve Air Attaché then as a Military Assistant to the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board until his retirement in 2010. His core expertise is system development, integration, and fielding of aircraft systems and operational flight programs, as well as reverse and re-engineering legacy weapon system assemblies.

Ki Ho lives in Fairfax Virginia with his wife Madelline and two children, Darren and Eileen. He serves on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region, the Utah State University College of Engineering Industry Advisory Board, the Air Force Museum Foundation, and the Northern Utah Economic Alliance.He is a regular guest speaker at the Defense Acquisition University on small business topics for PMT 401 and 402 classes, PM and Executive PM courses.
