These Celebrities All Call Northern Virginia Their Home

Living in Northern Virginia, maybe you've run into a celebrity out and about! Ever wondered all of the big names that have called the area home? Here are just a few of them, in alphabetical order by first name:

Dave Grohl (musician - Foo Fighters, Nirvana): Born in Ohio but later moved to Springfield as a child. Dave attended Holmes Middle School, Thomas Jefferson High School, Bishop Ireton High School and Annandale High School. At one point he owned a house in Alexandria where the Foo Fighters recorded There Is Nothing Left to Lose.

Diedrich Bader (actor, comedian - The Drew Carey Show, Napoleon Dynamite, American Housewife): Born in Alexandria but moved to Paris at the age of two. However, Bader later returned to Northern Virginia and attended Groveton High School in Alexandria and graduated from T.C. Williams High School.

Gena Rowlands (actress - A Woman Under the Influence, Gloria): Born in Wisconsin but grew up in Arlington. She graduated from Washington-Lee High School (now known as Washington-Liberty High School).

Hilarie Burton (actress - MTV's Total Request Live, One Tree Hill): Born and raised in Sterling and graduated from Park View High School.

Jason Sudeikis (actor, comedian - Saturday Night Live, Ted Lasso, We're the Millers): Born in Fairfax, but later moved with his family to Kansas as a child.

Jim Morrison (musician - The Doors): Born in Florida but grew up in Arlington and Alexandria in the 1950s. Attended George Washington High School in Alexandria.

Julianne Moore (actress, author - Boogie Nights, Still Alice, Map to the Stars): Born in North Carolina in a military and moved around frequently, but spent her high school years in Falls Church where she attended Justice High School before moving to Germany at age 16.

Katie Couric (journalist, presenter, producer, author - Today, CBS Evening News, 60 Minutes): Born and raised in Arlington. She attended Jamestown Elementary, Williamsburg Middle School, and Yorktown High School.

Patton Oswalt (comedian, actor, screenwriter - The King of Queens, The Goldbergs, Ratatouille): Born in Portsmouth and moved to Ohio and California, but his family moved back to Virginia and settled in Sterling. Attended Broad Run High School in Ashburn.

Roberta Flack (musician, multiple Grammy Award winner, five Billboard no. 1 songs): Born in North Carolina but was raised in Arlington. Attended high school in Arlington and went to Howard University at the age of 15, making her one of the youngest attendees ever. Before becoming a famous singer/songwriter, Flack was a teacher at schools in nearby Chevy Chase, MD and Washington, DC.

Sandra Bullock (actress, producer - Speed, Miss Congeniality, Ocean's 8, Gravity): Born in Arlington, but spent much of her childhood years living in Germany. Her family moved back to Arlington where she attended Washington-Lee High School (now known as Washington-Liberty High School).

Warren Beatty and Shirley MacLaine (actor/actress - Bonnie and Clyde, Dink Tracy, Steel Magnolias, Terms of Endearment): Siblings who were both born in Richmond, but moved to Arlington where their father worked at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School (now the Arlington Career Center). They both attended Washington-Lee High School (now Washington-Liberty High School).

Will Yun Lee (actor, martial artist - Witchblade, Bionic Woman, The Good Doctor): Born in Arlington, but moved all around the US as a child, attended 23 different schools.
