After 28 years, Brian Williams announced he's leaving MSNBC & NBC News when his contract ends in December. He says there's more to come. Watch the video of his NBC News debut in 1993

June 1, 1993: Brian Williams makes his NBC News debut, filling in as Today's newsreader for a week before assuming his role as a national correspondent. Within months, he would also become the anchor of the Saturday edition of Nightly News.

USA TODAY tweeted:

After 28 years at NBC, Brian Williams has announced he will be leaving the network.

"I have been truly blessed," Williams wrote. "I have been allowed to spend almost half of my life with one company. NBC is a part of me and always will be."
