High-Speed Chase in Florida Ends When Driver Crashes, Jumps Off 50ft Bridge

A police helicopter captured the end of a wild high-speed chase that has to be seen to be believed.

The driver of a stolen minivan is seen leading police on a chase on the highway when suddenly they lose control on a bridge over the Caloosahatchee River that runs on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

He slams into a wall, skids to the other side of the road and hits that wall while showering the road in sparks and finally comes to a stop.

Then, the driver is seen exiting the vehicle and climbs over the bridge's safety rail as pursuing officers arrive to the crash scene. As one deputy appears to run towards him, the driver leaps off the bridge, falling some 50-feet before hitting the water below.

Thanks to the helicopter's infrared camera, the suspect is located in the water and a police boat locates him and pulls him out of the water.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital. He has since been charged with fleeing, eluding and grand theft auto.
