Former NASCAR Driver Killed in Shooting in Georgia

31-year-old John Wes Townley, a former winner of a NASCAR event, was killed in a shooting on Saturday in Athens, Georgia, says E! News.

A woman was also seriously injured in the tragedy.

Townley retired from racing in 2017. The shooting is believed to have been the result of a domestic dispute.

A 32-year-old man who knew Townley is suspected of being the culprit, but no charges have been announced.

Townley competed in 76 NASCAR events between 2008 and 2016, mostly in the Truck series. He won one race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2015.

Townley was the son of Zaxby's co-founder Tony Townley.
