An Illinois family is using the death of 66-year-old Candace Ayers to lash out at people who are unvaccinated being the reason she died, despite having received the vaccine herself.

Ayers was in an Illinois hospital for over a month and died on September 3rd with her death being attributed to COVID-19.

Terry Ayers, Candace's husband, was angry that she got COVID and used her obituary to blame unvaccinated people.

Her obituary reads, "She was preceded in death by more than 4,531,799 others infected with COVID-19. She was vaccinated but was infected by others who chose not to be. The cost was her life."

Candace's son Marc Ayers says, "This whole thing is so preventable. People have politicized this and made it about politics. These are the people who have perpetuated the cycle of pain for our family and so many others."

Her family believes she caught the virus on a trip in mid-July to Mississippi to visit a friend who had lost her husband to the virus. Mississippi has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country but her family thought she would be safe since she was vaccinated.

Marc says the obituary has gotten positive responses and hopes it helps change people's minds about the vaccination.
