Erik Cowie, a zookeeper featured on the Netflix smash hit Tiger King, has reportedly died at the age of 53, according to TMZ.
Cowie's body was found in a friend's apartment in New York City, where he was visiting from out of town. A large bottle of vodka was found at the scene and Erik was reportedly a heavy drinker.
A toxicology report is pending to help determine Cowie's actual cause of death. No foul play is currently suspected.
Erik made several appearances in the show as one of Joe Exotic's longtime animal caretakers. He stayed at the GW Zoo after Exotic got put in jail, even though he testified against him, his statements leading to his conviction.
Cowie was recently facing legal issues. He was cited for a DUI in Oklahoma after being involved in a car accident and didn't show in court to plead guilty so an arrest warrant had been issued.
