Trooper Performs Heimlich on Driver Who Tried to Swallow Bag of Pot

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper pulled a driver over for speeding, and then possibly saved his life.

On July 3rd, Trooper Charles Hoskin caught a motorist doing 94 mph in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 76 in Ohio and went to perform a traffic stop on the driver.

The driver, a 24-year-old male, attempted to swallow a bag of marijuana so that the trooper wouldn't find it on him. But he began to choke on it. Hoskin acted, performing the Heimlich maneuver on him successfully.

Dashcam footage captured the moment which was then shared to Facebook.

"Don't try to swallow a bag of drugs prior to getting pulled over in an attempt to keep a trooper from finding them. Luckily, Tpr. Hoskin from our Ravenna Post was alert and able to assist the man who was choking on a bag of illegal marijuana."

Paramedics were called to the scene to make sure the man was okay. He was cited for speeding and failing to wear a seatbelt, and a misdemeanor charge for the marijuana.
