Former Skid Row lead vocalist Johnny Salinger has died at the age of 55, according to TMZ.
Only a month ago, Salinger revealed he was battling liver failure. He passed away on Saturday.
His former bandmates shared the news of his passing on Instagram: "We are saddened to hear the news of our brother Johnny Salinger. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans. Godspeed Singo. Say hello to Scrappy for us."
Salinger started a GoFundMe last month after sharing his diagnosis. "It is with a heavy heart I must let everyone know what's going on with me and my health. I have been hospitalized for over the last month. I have been diagnosed with liver failure. And prognosis is not good. As with most musicians I do not have health insurance and it's very difficult to get proper care without it."
Salinger replaced Sebastian Bach as lead singer in 1999 and remained a member of the band until 2015. He was reportedly fired from Skid Row, however Salinger said he made the decision to leave the band to pursue a solo career.
