'The Office' Actor Who Played Billy Merchant Dead at 55

Actor Mark York, perhaps best known for his role as the paraplegic Billy Merchant in The Office, has died at the age of 55, according to TMZ.

York appeared as Merchant in seasons 1 and 2 of "The Office." His most well-known appearance was in the season 2 episode "The Injury" where he came to Dunder Mifflin to talk about being disabled after Michael Scott cooked his foot in a George Foreman grill.

York was a paraplegic in real life following a car accident in 1988. He also appeared in "CSI: New York" and "Fighting Words." He had recently been an inventor and had two patents in his name.

The 55-year-old passed away at Miami Valley Hospital in Ohio due to an undisclosed illness. His exact cause of death has not been revealed.
