You'd think Seth Rogen would have some interesting stories to tell given some of the kinds of movies he's made over the years. And you'd be right.
Speaking with Howard Stern, Rogen recalled a time when he and Judd Apatow pitched a movie idea to Tom Cruise that left him tempted to learn more about Scientology.
Apparently, Cruise tried to pitch Scientology to the two during the hours-long meeting.
Rogen said, "A few hours into the meeting, the Scientology stuff comes up. He said, 'I think the pharmaceutical industry is making me look bad. You should see what they did to my friend Louis Farrakhan.'"
Then, Rogen says, Cruise tried to pitch it to him.
"I'll never forget the wording he used: 'It's like with Scientology... if you let me just tell you what it was really about... just give me like 20 minutes to, like, really just tell you what it was about, you would say 'No f**king way. No f**cking way.""
"The wording, I was like, 'Is that a good thing to be saying?'"
"And I'm like, 'Is he going to bite? Am I going to bite? Can we come out of this? Are we strong enough to have him do this to us and not be converted? I don't know if I am. I'm generally a weak-willed, weak-minded person. I would assume on the grand scale of people, if they got [Tom], what chance do I have?"
"Thank God Judd was like, 'Eh, I think we're good. Let's just talk about movies and stuff.' Oof, dodged that bullet. If I was there alone, I would be singing a very different tune right now."
