Meg Myers Sends Message Of Hope To Fans Dealing With Self-Harm

Trigger warning: Mention of self-harm and suicide

Meg Myers took to Instagram this week to open up to her fans about her self-harming in the past as well as writing a message of hope to anyone in need of it.

The singer-songwriter posted a photo sitting with her legs crossed on a wooden bench with a long caption detailing a low point in her life and what caused her to self-harm.

“When I was a teenager I used to cut my arms and wrists by rubbing sharp objects on them until I would bleed and then I would wear stockings to cover it up,” she wrote. “I wanted to escape reality my whole life. I felt so insecure and confused about my body and my sexuality and I kept repeating cycles of abuse in toxic relationships that were mirroring back to me how I felt about myself.”

"The Underground" singer made sure to let fans know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that they don't have to feel the way she has felt. She encouraged them to self-care instead of self-harm as well as find ways to heal.

“I promise you there is another way… I promise it’s not as scary as it looks. It’s painful temporarily but the more we self care and heal ourselves the more we experience liberation and bliss,” she wrote. “It’s truly amazing how much we can shift in our internal and external realities in such short periods of time when we are willing to face the truth and get to the root of how we feel and why.”

Myers ended her note telling fans how much she loves them and that she's always there if they need her.
