Driver Charged After Doing Donuts on Capital Beltway, Halting Traffic

A 20-year-old has been charged with six traffic citations and has been fined $1,800 after he allegedly was the driver who stopped traffic on the Capital Beltway in Maryland doing donuts and burnouts.

Maryland State Police say Jonathan Iraheta has been charged with aggressive driving, doing 90 mph in a 35 mph zone and more.

At approximately 7:00pm on Sunday, multiple calls were made to the police concerning a group of drivers who purposely blocked traffic on the inner loop near Route 1 to perform burnouts and donuts in their cars.

A responding officer was lead by a report of a reckless driver on Route 212 who allegedly was the same one who was doing the stunts on the beltway.

No other information was given in regards to the others who appeared to be willingly participating in the incident.
