@deadline is reporting that Russell Crowe, Bill Murray and adopted Aussie Zac Efron are to star in The Greatest Beer Run Ever from Greenbook director Peter Farrelly for Apple Original Films by Skydance.
Based on a best-selling memoir by Chick Donahue and J.T. Malloy, Beer Run tells Donohue’s story of leaving New York in 1967 to bring beer to his childhood buddies in the Army — while they are fighting in Vietnam. Donohue took a good idea to the extreme, hitching a ride on a merchant marine ship, then carrying the beer through the jungle as he tried to track down his three friends. Dressed in shorts and Hawaiian shirts, he was mistaken for CIA, which made his effort a bit easier. Efron will play Donohue.
Producers hope is to start production in August, and Deadline are reporting it will either be shot in New Zealand or Australia. @russellcrowe@zacefron#billmurray#peterfarrelly@appletv@skydance#russellcrowe#zacefron#australia#hollywood#newzealand#greatestbeerrunever@screenaustralia@ausfilm_international@screennsw@screen_qld@filminwesternaustralia@filmvic@ausfilm_international
