Baltimore Student Passes 3 Classes in 4 Years, Ranks Near Half w/ 0.13 GPA

FOX 45 News Baltimore uncovered a shocking story when they learned a high school student who passed only three classes in four years, with a GPA of 0.13, is somehow ranked near the top half of his class.

Tiffany France, mother of the student, is astonished to learn that her son is being sent back to the 9th grade after thinking he was about to graduate.

"He's stressed and I am too. I told him I'm probably going to start crying. I don't know what to do for him. Why would he do three more years in school? He didn't fail, the school failed him. The school failed at their job. They failed. They failed, that's the problem here. They failed. They failed. He didn't deserve that," she told FOX 45.

The student attends Augusta Fells Savage Institute of Visual Arts in west Baltimore City. According to FOX 45, his transcripts show he passed only three classes in four years, earning 2.5 credits. That would place him as a freshman according to the number of credits earned. France says she had no idea about this until February. She thought since he was being moved on to other classes, it meant he was doing well enough to be on track to graduate.

His transcripts reportedly show that he failed Spanish I and Algebra I, but he was placed in Spanish II and Algebra II. He also failed English II but was placed in English III.

FOX 45 uncovered that the boy failed 22 classes and was late or absent 272 days. Only one teacher reportedly requested a conference with France despite the staggering numbers.
