Sammy Hagar & The Circle Announce September Charity Concert In Ohio

Sammy Hagar & the Circle have announced a live concert to take place outdoors in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on September 18.

The concert event is part of a celebrity golf charity outing and will be Hagar's first performance since pandemic concerns scrapped his band's 2020 touring plans.

The Rockin' Fore the Kids event is a fundraiser for the Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancers and Blood Disorders at Akron's Children's Hospital, MusiCares and local food banks.

Several months ago, Hagar suggested he would risk his own health to prevent an economic downturn caused by the pandemic, telling Rolling Stone, "We have to save the world and this country from this economic thing that's going to kill more people in the long run."

But Hagar quickly amended his position after his comments were published, explaining that he had spoken to the magazine in May 8 when it appeared the country was having success against the virus.

"So when I was asked if I'd be comfortable enough to get back onstage before a vaccine was out, I was cautiously optimistic," he said in a follow-up statement. "I said, 'Yeah, not too soon. I want to make sure it's not escalating. When it's declining and seems to be going away.'"

According to a press release, the Rockin' Fore the Kids event will be produced "according to all COVID-19 guidelines" and that social distancing will be followed at the outdoor concert event.

Attendees will be required to fill out a questionnaire and have their temperatures taken before entering. Masks are required to be worn when entering the Rock Hall of Fame, but they are not mandatory at the outdoor plaza, where capacity will be limited to 1,000 guests.

"We hope this year's event proves to raise even more money to help kids battling cancer at the hospital," said event organizer Phil Lopez. "It's about saving lives and providing the best treatment possible for the children. We also thought that will all the other issues going on in this world, we would allocate some of this year's donations to help out MusiCares and local food banks."
