Police arrested two suspects who allegedly were involved in the stabbing of an acquaintance of one of the two apprehended.
According to Asheville, NC police, a victim was stabbed at an apartment complex by the suspect, 54-year-old Donald Lory in the early AM hours on Wednesday. Lory then barricaded himself in an apartment.
Police determined they believe Lory and the victim, who sustained "life-threatening injuries," were acquaintances.
Police and crisis negotiation teams worked for approximately five hours to get Lory to surrender. He did so without further incident.
Officials say that a woman, identified as Julia Cavaliere, was also held up in the same apartment as Lory.
Lory was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflect serious injury. Cavaliere was charged with resist, delay, obstruct.
The victim remains in critical condition.
