DC Wharf Fish Market Shut Down After Photos of Large Crowds Go Viral

The Fish Market at The Wharf in Washington, DC has been served an emergency closure notice after numerous photos posted to social media in the area on Saturday (April 4) showed large crowds at the market.

Despite boards placed at the entrance to the Fish Market area warning people to maintain at least 6' around them, the crowd clearly was not following the guidelines in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

The Fish Market was open due to the seafood vendors being considered essential businesses. However, as of late Saturday night, the market and its vendors are now closed.

Notices of the emergency closure posted on bright orange signs read that the market will be closed until at April 24th.
