Public school closings:
- All Maryland Public Schools will be closed from March 16 to March 27.
- Washington, D.C. Public Schools will be closed through April 24th and will reopen on April 27th.
- Virginia Public Schools: In a statement on March 23, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has announced all K-12 schools in Virginia will be closed for the remainder of the school year.
University/college closings and schedule modifications. Please follow the links for each school for the most up-to-date information:
- *All schools in the University System of Maryland move to online instruction for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester
- Bowie State University is closing March 12 and March 13 and will switch to remote instructing until at least April 6th.
- Salisbury University is closing March 12 and March 13 and will switch to remote instructing until at least April 3rd.
- University of Maryland, Eastern Shore will switch to online classes until at least April 3rd.
- UMBC is canceling classes March 12 and March 13 and all on-campus events through April 6th have been canceled.
- Catholic University is canceling classes on March 16 and March 17 and is moving all classes online until at least March 30.
- University of Baltimore (UB) is planning to transition to online learning by March 23 and to move classes online for at least two weeks.
- University of Maryland, College Park will have an extended spring break from March 16 to March 27, and switch to online classes until at least April 10.
- McDaniel College will move all classes online beginning March 23 for two weeks.
- Towson University has canceled classes March 11-13 and is preparing to switch to online classes after spring break.
- Harford Community College has canceled classes March 12-13, will be closed for spring break March 14-22 and will transition to online classes March 23-29.
- Howard Community College has canceled classes March 12-13. Spring break is moved to March 16 to March 22. Classes from March 23 to March 29 have been canceled.
- Loyola University has discontinued face-to-face classes until at least April 1st.
- Johns Hopkins University announced that starting March 11, all classes would switch to remote until at least April 12th.
- American University says spring break will be extended through March 17th and are moving all classes online afterwards until at least April 3rd.
- Georgetown University is moving all classes online beginning March 16th until further notice.
- George Washington University is moving most classes online starting March 23 to at least April 5.
- Howard University is moving classes online from March 23 to April 6.
- James Madison University is closed March 13. No in-person classes will be held the week of March 16. Most classes will move to online until at least April 5.
- Marymount University is extending spring break until March 18 and will switch to online classes afterward until at least March 30.
- Northern Virginia Community College will be closed March 16 and March 17 and will move to online classes on March 18 until at least April 3.
- Old Dominion University is extending spring break for one week and is moving classes online starting March 23 and lasting until April 6.
- Strayer University Prince George's County Campus has suspended in-person classes.
- University of Virginia is moving classes online "for the foreseeable future" starting March 19.
- Coppin State University says "students should prepare to be away from the campus at least until April 6, 2020."
- Frostburg State University is moving all classes online until at least April 6.
- Virginia Commonwealth University is extending spring break through March 20. Beginning March 23, all classes will be taught remotely "for the forseeable future."
- Virginia Tech is extending spring break until March 22. Beginning March 23, classes will move to online for the remainder of the spring semester.
- George Mason University is extending spring break through March 20 and is moving to "virtual alternative instruction" from March 23 to April 3.
