National Cherry Blossom Festival Announces Peak Bloom Dates 🌸

The National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC is the unofficial start of spring for the region. This year, the festival runs from March 20 - April 12, 2020 and features the Pink Tie Party on March 20th, Opening Weekend and Opening Ceremony on March 21st, the Blossom Kite Festival on March 28, the Parade on April 4th and Petalpalooza on April 11th.

This morning, peak day for the cherry blossom bloom was announced by Jeff Reinhold, acting superintendent of the National Park Service's National Mall and Memorial Park unit, and will begin on March 27-30 when 70% of the trees will be in blossom.

The trees and festival bring in an estimated 1.5 million visitors and generates around $100M over the weeks of the festival.
