Exploring the Huge Abandoned Spingarn High School in Washington DC (VIDEO)

Spingarn High School in Washington, DC opened in 1952 but closed in 2013 due to declining enrollment and the incredible amount of money it would have taken to modernize and refurbish the school. The school was once attended by NBA Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor in its first years open.

Since then, it has lied dormant and thieves, vandals and nature have taken over.

A group of urban explorers venture inside the school, and surprisingly, there is a lot of stuff still in it. It's eerie to see an empty school that was open less than a decade ago. Tons of school supplies and materials are still sitting in classrooms.
