The Washington Nationals Are 2019 World Series Champions

You could call it luck. You could call it pure will. You could call it unorthodox.

The Washington Nationals are the 2019 World Series Champions after defeating the Houston Astros in Game 7 by a score of 6-2.

Howie Kendrick gave the Nationals the lead after hitting a home run off the foul pole to put the Nats up 3-2 in the 7th inning. They would tack on one run in the 8th, then two more insurance runs in the 9th.

Both teams swept the series on the road. But the Nats played four games as the visitor against the Astros' three.

Max Scherzer pitched a gutsy 5 innings, giving up only two earned runs on seven hit and going toe-to-toe with Astros starter Zack Grienke.

No one could have predicted how this World Series would play out. Heck, no one gave much thought to the Nats even making it to the World Series. But here we are. Right where we wanted to be. Congrats.
