Teddy Bears & Prizes Await Runners in 7th Teddy Bear 5K & 1K on Sunday, Sept. 29. Runners and walkers of all ages and paces receive a teddy bear when they cross the finish line in the 7th Annual Teddy Bear 5K & 1K Walk/Run on Sunday, September 29, 2019 in the Pimmit Hills neighborhood between Falls Church and Tysons Corner, VA. This year the 5K will start an hour later, at 9 a.m., and the 1K moves to the first street of the 5K course, Griffith Road, which will be closed to traffic.

A Mascot Race will precede the 1K with a costumed samsei representing Code Ninjas, new tech company in Falls Church just for kids, and Moss the Builder from Moss Building and Design, taking on the Children’s Center’s Honey Bear.

The 5K includes a Stroller Division. Prizes go to Fastest Mom and Dad pushing a stroller; Overall Male and Female; Fastest Boy and Girl in 6 age groups starting at 6-8; and Males and Females in 7 age groups 20-80. Second and Third place winners receive medals. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult to run in the 5K.

The 5K course takes runners through shaded Pimmit Hills neighborhood, starting at Pimmit Hills Park, 2061 Arch Dr., between Arch Drive and Griffith Road, Falls Church. Runners are urged to park at Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, 7230 Idylwood Rd., then walk to Pimmit Hills Park. 

Proceeds support Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, a nationally accredited, nonprofit preschool dedicated to giving young children from low- and moderate-income, working families the chance to build their skills to be ready for success in school and in life.
