Great White Shark Drags Boat for Two Miles Before 7 Men Reel It In

A stunning video captures the moments surrounding a group of fisherman snagging a great white shark on a fishing pole, only to be dragged around for two miles in the San Francisco Bay by the 8-foot shark before reeling it in.

It took seven men over 30 minutes to reel in the shark. The boat kept being dragged around the Bay even though the ship had dropped its anchor.

"It almost pulled me into the water at one point. It's the biggest thing I've ever fought in my life that's for sure," says Joey Gamez, the trip operator who has been supervising fishing trips for 20 years.

He says it's the first time he's ever heard of anyone catching a great white shark in the Bay and at first though they caught a dolphin.

As soon as the fishermen realized what they had caught, they were quick to cut the line to let the shark go free. Great Whites are considered a vulnerable species and are illegal to haul onboard.
