Oh how the once might have fallen.
Following the closure of a location in Australia, the Blockbuster Video store in Bend, Oregon is now the last remaining store on the planet.
The owner of the last Blockbuster was sad to hear the only other Blockbuster was closing for good, but Sandi Harding think it might actually help out to elevate its status as a tourist destination.
The last Blockbuster lays claim to not only offering the latest movie released, but their large library of older titles that you can't get from a Redbox, or even from online streaming providers like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon.
The Bend, Oregon location became the last in America after two stores in Alaska closed in 2018. At its peak, there were over 9,000 locations in the US. After the company was decimated by Netflix, Blockbuster declared bankruptcy in 2010 and by 2016 there were only 10 stores in the US.
Harding says she goes out and purchases copies of all the new movie releases every Tuesday and that the store is doing good business thanks to loyal customers and people seeking out her store.
